We had a beautiful day for our annual Volpe Block Party this past Saturday. While things looked a little different this year, we still brought many smiles to Cambridge residents as we followed an ice cream truck around the city, handing out free ice cream and MIT-Volpe swag. And, in case you missed it, we also streamed a free concert from Starlight Square, hosted by Sarah Gallop, featuring Jeremy Lyons, Nephrok! Allstars, and Phaedra. Watch the video here.

In addition to the musical performances, the MIT Volpe team provided $45,000 in donations ($5,000 each) to local nonprofits including Starlight Square, My Brother’s Keeper, My Sister’s Keeper, Tutoring Plus, Community Arts Center, Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House, East End House, Cambridge Community Television, and East Cambridge Business Association. These gifts reflect MIT’s gratitude for the organizations’ ongoing support, services, and programming for children and their families during the pandemic.

Check out photos from the ice cream social(ly distanced).

We hope you enjoy these photos, and we look forward to seeing you at next year’s event!
